Jan Kusiak, professor of the Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza (AGH-University of Science and Technology) in Kraków, Poland, born January 28, 1952 in Kraków.
Master degree in Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza in 1974. 1974-76 PhD student at the same Faculty. PhD thesis in 1978. Since 1976 working at the Faculty of Metallurgy, Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza. The habilitation in 1995.
The main scientific field of interest in the domain of computer modeling of metallurgical processes, with special attention to the optimization of metal forming tool shape design and the application of the artificial neural network modeling.
The separate field of interest is e-learning. Author or co-author of numerous publications and conference presentations.
The Deputy Dean for Education of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Science for two successive terms since 1996 to 2002. 2002-2004 - the Head of the National Contact Point of the EU eContent Programme. Since 2003 Head of the Centre of e-learning at the Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza.
Married to Halina, MSc in metallurgy, the researcher at the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Science, Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza. Daugther Agnieszka, MSc in philosophy at the Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland and PhD in psychology, Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. Agnieszka is married to Marek Wykowski and Mother of Julian, my lovely Grandson.
